Lives and works in Berlin and St. Petersburg

Born to prominent artists in the Soviet Union, Alexander received Russias finest state education at the art school and art academy of St. Petersburg from ages six to 24, which formed him as a realist painter.

Upon graduation Alexander moved to Berlin at the turn of the millennium, where he found himself questioning everything he had known about cultural, religious and societal norms, throwing out anything he found false, while retaining the truths and values that he uncovered or reaffirmed.

Self-aware and non-judgmental, with empathy for and insight into his fellow human beings, Alexander paints the way he lives: brutally honest—a concept more difficult than many would think.

Aware of his own flaws and demons, Alexander observes society with immense depth and acuity and conveys his realizations to canvas, no matter how controversial they may be.

Each painting focuses on a single powerful emotion that may hit you in the gut when you first see it, but over the next hour of careful observation that same painting will gently draw you into new insights about Alexanders way of thinking.
